Fats, Oil, & Grease Program
 |
 |
The South Hadley Fats, Oil & Grease (FOG) Program was enacted to protect residents, businesses and the environment from sanitary sewer backups and overflows resulting from the accumulation of FOG material in the sewer system. These backups and overflows can be a serious health concern, and depending on the severity of the incident, costly to clean up. The South Hadley FOG Program focuses on commercial Food Service Establishments, stipulating minimum maintenance and reporting requirements for grease removal devices required under the MA Uniform Plumbing Code and the Local Regulation. None of the above impose any requirements on residents, however, many of the Best Management Practices for commercial kitchens can be applied to home kitchens as well. |
