South Hadley Awarded $800,000 Community Development Block Grant
The Town of South Hadley was recently notified by the Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development that its application for $800,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds was approved. Many persons contributed significant amount of effort to make this application successful including:

Continuing the Town's 20+ year effort to enhance, and to stimulate revitalization in, the Falls, meet our housing needs, and to meet the needs of our senior citizens, the approved program includes the following activities:
Working with the Fire District #1 Water Department to replace the water line along Canal Street
Installation/rehabilitation of sidewalks along Canal Street and some adjoining streets
Drainage improvements along Canal Street
Rehabilitation of the town-owned duplex on School Street and conveyance to the Housing Authority for uses as affordable housing
Preparation of specifications for replacement of portions of the roof at the Senior Center
Preliminary work will begin this Fall. However, construction work is anticipated to occur in Spring 2010.
