Family Records Workshop for Local Genealogists
The South Hadley Public Library is collaborating with the Massachusetts
State Archives to offer a "Preservation & Care of Family Records"
workshop on Tuesday, July 14 at 2:00. Archivists from the State
Archives will offer tips on how to organize and care for paper records,
photographs, and other audio-visual material. Given that family history
is often chronicled in multiple formats and media, the archivists will
discuss various types of paper records including a range of photographs
from daguerreotypes to Polaroids, as well as digital records including
digital photographs and family history websites and software. Practical
advice on archival supplies, scrap-booking, and photo albums will aid
most local historians and genealogists who are taking care of their own
family tree. The South Hadley Public Library is located at 27 Bardwell
Street; for more information call 538-5045. This program is free and
open to the public.
